Opportunity Charter School Published June 22, 2020 Opportunity Charter School Published June 15, 2020 As our nation, state, and local community continue to work toward slowing the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, we are considering what that could mean for our return to school in the fall. We want to hear from you. Your input is important to us and will be considered as we move forward. All plans will be subject to the directives from Gov. Cuomo, guidance from the CDC, and approval from the New York State Department of Health. Please note these answers are anonymous. Thank you for your time in completing this. Opportunity Charter School Published June 8, 2020 Opportunity Charter School Published June 3, 2020 This is an unprecedented time. On top of the stress from COVID-19, we have also suffered the pain of fatal violence against Black Americans, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, and the subsequent protests. Opportunity Charter School stands with the Black community and our hearts are aching for all of our students who are growing up in a country that is still so divided by racial injustice, ignorance, and hatred. It is essential that we continue educating ourselves and each other about the history of racial injustice in this country. When we share and learn about others, we learn about ourselves and hopefully find ways to live together and to embrace and better understand one another. When we as a society fail to respect each other, we become inhumane and tragedy often follows. As we learn, we encourage everyone in our community to engage with the struggle for racial equity in whatever way they choose, and to always be mindful of their safety. We all have our role to play when it comes to creating a better society. Thank you, and please stay safe. Este es un momento sin precedentes.
