Opportunity Charter School Published March 31, 2020 Dear Parents/Guardians, We hope that you and your families are healthy and well. Our remote learning program is up and running and the students are making progress each day! While we are aware of the difficulty with navigating online learning, the completion of assignments is not optional, rather it is mandatory and will affect your student’s academic outcome. Our thoughts are with you and your families. We have spoken with many of you and are impressed with the level of communication with staff, and activity with your online classes. We are happy to hear from you, and see that our community is remaining strong, even from a distance. On that note, if you have not yet signed into Google Classroom, please do so today. There are daily lessons posted for each of your classes, therefore the expectation is to remain active and participatory on Google Classroom. It is extremely important to complete your assignments by the assigned due dates to ensure the continuation of your education. If you are having difficulty with your online classes, please log on at http://ocsny.org/ find the directory, and you will find a Google Voice phone number for any OCS staff member. Opportunity Charter School Published March 16, 2020 Dear OCS Families, We hope that you are doing well during this unprecedented time in our city. OCS is committed to continuing educating our students and supporting our families. In response to the need for remoting learning capabilities, OCS will be distributing laptop computers tomorrow, March 17th from 12-2 at the school. Due to social dIstancing protocols, PLEASE ONLY COME TO PICKUP LAPTOP IF IT IS AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY. Report to the security desk for further instructions on distribution. Also, Spectrum is offering free broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households. Families can pick up grab and go meals at any DOE school site, including their regular site if attending a charter in district space or their nearest neighborhood district school. To help students stay connected during emergencies, the DOE is lending internet-enabled iPads. Estimadas familias de OCS,

Gracias. Dear OCS Families, OCS, along with all NYC schools, will be closed tomorrow, Monday, March 16th, and will remain closed through at least April 20th. We know that this will be an extreme hardship for everyone, but our staff is currently completing plans to support our school community through this difficult time. The development of a program of Remote Learning (lessons that students will complete on-line) will be completed this week so that student learning will continue. Details of the remote learning program, including instructions and requirements will be communicated to you in the coming days. The OCS staff will be communicating with you and your students to support you in this transition to remote learning so that students understand how to complete class work, as well as all expectations and requirements.
