Welcome to Middle School Student Support Services.

"Six through eighth graders work with their counselor to establish academic and career goals"

The OCS Department of Student Services is made up of the Director, Assistant to the Director, two certified school counselors, and a Social Worker for each grade level (6th through 12th).  Collectively, these individuals work together to ensure that students are set up for Psycho-social and academic success throughout their tenure at OCS.  As a team, we use a supportive approach to ensure our students and families feel welcome in our office.

Students in grades 6 through 8 work with their guidance counselor to establish academic and career goals, and to develop strategies on how to formulate a plan to achieve those goals. Specific academic progress is tracked through quarterly reports, individual meetings with students and families, and staff consultation meetings. Academic success is celebrated through honor roll award ceremonies where students are presented with medals and encouraged to continue on their path of success.

As students enter the 8th grade, they begin to receive support in transitioning to high school.  As a department, we also promote college and career readiness through a structured career day, vocational assessments, and off-campus trips to local colleges.
